Starling

THE WOODLAND TREEHOUSE

High in the treetops and cocooned by woodland, Starling Treehouse is a soul-soothing escape for those seeking a secluded treehouse holiday in Devon. Hidden away in a quiet corner of the county, this modern, design-led treehouse is all about switching off, slowing down, and immersing yourself in the magic of the forest canopy.

While our other treehouse, Blackcap, gazes out over open hills and wide skies, Starling sits lower in the valley, completely surrounded by trees. The result? Total privacy. You’re unlikely to see another soul – just the shifting light through the branches, the call of birds, and the occasional rustle of wildlife below.

Your forest hideaway

Starling is one of those rare places that instantly makes you breathe deeper. A super king-size mezzanine bed with sky views, a crackling wood burner, and a statement copper bathtub on the deck set the tone: comfort meets wilderness.

Pour a morning coffee, throw open the floor-to-ceiling doors, and listen to the birdsong drift through the trees. Deer often wander beneath the deck, hares dart through the meadow, and if you’re lucky, you might spot a goshawk gliding silently above the canopy. On cooler days, cosy up by the fire and watch the forest shift with the light. And when night falls? Sink into the deep copper bath outside and stargaze, glass of wine in hand. It’s simple. It’s magical.

Everything you need (and nothing you don’t)

We’ve designed Starling to be effortless. A fully equipped kitchen makes self-catering easy, and the luxe bathroom (plus that unforgettable outdoor bath) means you’re never far from comfort.

You’ll find thoughtful touches throughout – from soft throws and ambient lighting to local books, guides, and a stash of marshmallows for the firepit. There’s plenty of firewood, no hidden extras, and everything you need to settle in and feel at home.

Ideal for couples (and space for little ones too)

While Starling is perfect for a romantic treehouse stay, there’s also a snug bunk room that sleeps two children – making it a great fit for young families. The space is designed with grown-ups in mind, but little adventurers love it here just as much. It’s the kind of secluded treehouse holiday in Devon where both quiet mornings and evening stories under the stars come easily.

The best of Devon (and Cornwall) on your doorstep

Located on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and within easy reach of both Devon and Cornwall’s coastlines, Starling is an ideal base for walking, wild swimming, moorland adventures or slow days at the beach. Or don’t leave at all – stay tucked among the trees and let the forest set the pace.
